A Jahangirnagar University (JU) student died of dengue at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on Sunday night, the JU authorities and his friends confirmed.
The deceased was identified as Ranjit Das Chauhan, a student of government and politics department in the 2016-17 session (46 Batch) of the university.
Ranjit, who was from Comilla, was also a resident student of Shaheed Rafiq Jabbar Hall and the general secretary of JU Cine Society.
His friend Saiful Islam Porosh said Ranjit had been feeling sick since last Saturday. He was admitted to Comilla Tower Hospital Sunday morning where he was diagnosed with dengue.
Later, doctors referred him to the DMCH after his physical condition deteriorated, Porosh said.
At around 1am, Ranjit was admitted to the DMCH and died there around 1:40am, Porosh added.
