Detective Branch [DB] of Police has arrested six men for allegedly importing a highly addictive stimulant drug—crystal methamphetamine, more commonly known as “ice” in Bangladesh.
At least 600g of the drug, worth Tk60 lakh, was seized during the raid, said AKM Hafiz Akhtar, additional commissioner of police in DB of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), in a press conference held at DMP headquarters on Thursday.
Chandan Roy, the main dealer of the drug, was arrested from Gendaria area of Dhaka. Later, based on his information, his associates -- Siraj, Ovi, Jewel, Rubayet and Kenny -- were arrested from Gulshan, Banani and Bashundhara areas, the DB official added.

Chandan has a gold business but he was running the drug business behind the scenes. He brought the drug by air with the help of an expatriate relative named Shankar. The drug would later be sold to the rich young people living in those areas, said Hafiz Akhtar.
“A case has been filed with Gendaria police station and we will get more information by interrogating them during remand,” he added.
