Police have recovered the body of a woman from a house in the capital’s Mohammadpur area.
The body was recovered on Thursday morning from the fourth floor of a building at the Dhaka Uddyan area of Mohammadpur.
Following a call from the tenant of a nearby flat, the body was recovered, said Abdul Latif, officer in-charge (OC) of Mohammadpur police station.
The deceased has been identified as Rohima Khatun.
Husband of Rohima, Zakir has been on the run since the incident. He works for a courier service company.
Police are yet to determine the reason behind the death. So far, nobody has been held in this connection. Police have however seized the NID of both husband and wife.
CID is looking into the incident.
Md Tezaul Karim, inspector of the west zone of CID said the flat is rented and they were living there as sublet tenants.
“Their house was locked from Tuesday. The neighbour had a talk with them on that day and they were supposed to leave the house on Thursday,” he said.
“After hearing no sound, the owner of the house opened the door and found the body on the floor,” he added.
The CID official suspects that the woman could have been killed over a family dispute.
