Monirul Islam Monir has been sent to jail for allegedly raping two women who are sisters-in-law by marriage.
Hazaribagh police station Sub-Inspector (SI) and case Investigating Officer (IO) Shahidul Islam said that once the case was filed, Monirul was arrested and sent to jail by a court on Thursday.
Both the women have been admitted for medical examination to the One-Stop Crisis Centre in Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), he added.
The SI said Monirul is a chauffeur by profession.
According to the survivors' statement, the SI said, Monirul talked on the phone with them in different times and then met them in person on separate occasions. At one point, he lured them separately to his place and raped them both several times.
Nabbing Monirul, the two women took him to their neighbourhood Vatara police station in Dhaka. However, Monirul lives in Hazaribagh where the rapes took place and so they later filed the case with Hazaribagh police station, the police officer added.
