Man detained for forging academic certificates in Dhaka

In primary interrogation, the detainee admitted to counterfeiting certificates of various exams

The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has detained a man on charges of forging academic certificates.

Mofizur Rahman, 42, was detained on Friday night from 10/E, Sayedabad in the capital’s Jatrabari area with 18 fake academic certificates, 13 National Identity cards, a computer and Tk30,250 in his possession.

Md Kayumuzzaman Khan, commanding officer of RAB-10, said the elite force detained Mofizur, who had tools for making fake certificates, after acting on a tip-off. 

The detainee, in primary interrogation, admitted to producing fake SSC, HSC, Madrasah-e-Alia, National University exam, and other academic certificates for a long time.

Mofizur also used to manufacture fraudulent deeds relating to land in exchange of money, the RAB official added.

A case will soon be filed against Mofizur.
