Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) on Monday found Aedes mosquito larvae at 70 houses and establishments and fined them over Tk1 lakh on the seventh day of the third phase of its combing operation to eliminate mosquitoes.
During the drive, the city corporation teams visited as many as 13,509 houses, under construction buildings and establishments, according to a press release issued in this regard.
The operation starts at 10am and continues till 1pm every day except Fridays.
The wards are divided into ten sectors and each sector has 10 sub-sectors to make the operation successful, added the DNCC release.
During the combing operation, the larvae of Aedes mosquito were found in abandoned tires, buckets, flower tubs, bottles, water-meters, garages, broken mugs, floors, water-tanks, plastic containers, roof-drains, yogurt pots, abandoned commodes, coconut shells, broken pots, basement and spaces between two houses.
