Indonesian embassy official dies in Dhaka

It’s not Covid-19, but a test is being conducted, says embassy official

A female official at the Embassy of Indonesia in Dhaka has passed away due to different ailments, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Indonesian mission.

Siti Herwansyah, the administrative official of the mission, passed away on Thursday morning at the age of 28.

“She died early morning today [Thursday] at the United Hospital,” an official of the Indonesian embassy told Dhaka Tribune.

“It was not coronavirus. But she is being tested for Covid-19 for confirmation. We are expecting the report tomorrow [Friday],” he said.

Siti Herwansyah had other illnesses, he added.

Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen has expressed deep sorrow over the death of the official.

He expressed deep sympathy for the family of the bereaved and prayed for the salvation of the departed soul.

The foreign minister also phoned Indonesian Ambassador in Dhaka Rina P Soemarno to inquire about the deceased, and assured of all necessary assistance.
