Domestic flights have resumed operations on a limited scale after more than two months of suspension amidst the coronavirus pandemic.
Operations resumed on Monday on the Dhaka-Chittagong, Dhaka-Sylhet, and Dhaka-Syedpur routes, reports UNB.
Civil Aviation and Tourism Ministry Senior Secretary Mohibul Haque said that some flights were canceled because the number of passengers was too low. These flights will resume when there are enough passengers, he added.
He said all measures have been taken at the airports to ensure health and safety of passengers of the resumed flights.
“I request all passengers to follow proper hygiene rules and ensure social distancing while traveling by air,” he added.
Civil Aviation Authority, Bangladesh (CAAB) Chairman Air Vice Marshal Md Mofidur Rahman said that flights on the remaining routes will resume in phases.
“We are monitoring whether the passengers and the airlines are following all the hygiene rules and other instructions,” he said.
