Anwara Begum, the wife of Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Deputy Speaker Md Fazle Rabbi Miah, has died of cardiac arrest at a hospital in Dhaka at the age of 67.
She breathed her last at 10:40am on Tuesday as she was undergoing treatment at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH), said Shawpan Kumar Biswas, the deputy speaker’s public relation officer, reports BSS.
Anwara Begum had been suffering from old-age complications for a long time, and had been on life support at the hospital for last few days, he said.
She is survived by her husband, three daughters, grandsons, granddaughters as well as a host of relatives and admirers.
From the hospital, the body will be taken to the deputy speaker’s village home in Saghata of Gaibandha district for burial.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, President M Abdul Hamid, Jatiya Sangsad Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal, Planning Minister MA Mannan, and State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak expressed their sorrow at Anwara Begum’s passing and offered their sympathies to her bereaved family members.
