Girl says she was raped in Mohakhali hotel

A girl has filed a case claiming that she was raped in a hotel in Mohakhali last November by an acquaintance. Banani police Sub-Inspector Ali Akbar said the girl met one Mahmudul Hasan Shahin alias Jewel on Facebook last year. Jewel called her to Hotel Zakaria International on November 17 and raped her, according to case details. The girl was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital's One-Stop Crisis Centre (OCC) on Monday evening for medical tests. Police said the victim had told them that she kept silent all this time for “various reasons.” She said she decided to file the case after Jewel leaked several of her intimate pictures on the social media forcing her into an embarrassing situation. Banani police's Officer-in-Charge Forman Ali said they initially learned that the victim had a love affair with the alleged rapist. The girl decided to file a case after Jewel refused to marry her. The OC said police were trying to arrest Jewel.
