DNCRP Deputy Director Shahriar tests positive for Covid-19

Shahriar, who is stationed at the DNCRP’s Dhaka Divisional Office, has been in self-isolation since he came to know the test results

Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection (DNCRP) Deputy Director Monjur Mohammad Shahriar has been tested positive for Covid-19.

He confirmed the matter to reporters late on Wednesday night.

“I had some pain on my body since Monday night and had a runny nose coupled with fever yesterday (Tuesday). So, I had my samples tested this (Wednesday) morning and was informed in the evening that I contracted the virus,” he said.

Shahriar, who is stationed at the DNCRP’s Dhaka Divisional Office, has been in self-isolation since he came to know the test results.

The DNCRP deputy director has regularly been conducting mobile court raids since the beginning of Ramadan, to check price manipulation and substandard products available in the market.

Shahriar came to limelight following a mobile court raid at the Uttara showroom of a leading fashion brand on June 3 last year, just two days before Eid-ul-Fitr.

Less than 24 hours after the drive, a transferred order was issued, asking him to join the Khulna Zone office of Roads and Highways Department as the estate and law officer.

As the decision triggered much uproar from different quarters, especially consumers, the government revoked the transferred order the next day.
