60 more police personnel have tested positive for coronavirus in the last 24 hours, despite no new infections to members of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).
This is in contrast to previous days when infections from DMP members made up a large percentage of total police personnel infections.
The new infections take the total number of police personnel infected by Covid-19 in Bangladesh to 914, reported sources at police headquarters. DMP’s tally remains at 449.
Only one case of recovery was confirmed in the last 24 hours, increasing the total number of recovered police personnel in the country to 58.
As of Saturday, 1,250 police personnel have been sent to quarantine, 315 of who are now in isolation, according to the latest report on Saturday.
Five policemen have died from the deadly virus.
Covid-19 has so far infected 9,455 people and killed 177 people in Bangladesh.
