A special flight has flown in 47 Bangladeshis from Thailand amid travel restrictions due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
A chartered flight of US-Bangla Airlines from Bangkok landed at Dhaka’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) at 4:15pm on Friday, Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) Public Relation Officer Mohammad Sohel Kamruzzaman told Dhaka Tribune.
The plane also carried the body of a Bangladesh national.
All of the passengers, who were issued health certificates by authorities in Bangkok, have been asked to be on a home quarantine for 14 days, said Dr Shahrier Sazzad, a health officer at the Dhaka airport.
US-Bangla Airlines General Manager Kamrul Islam said that they will operate special flights to bring back Bangladeshis from Indian cities of Chennai and Kolkata between April 20 and 25.
