The China Railway Group Limited (CREC) donated personal protective equipment (PPE) and other safety gear to Kurmitola General Hospital and Combined Military Hospital (CMH) to support the government’s fight against the coronavirus pandemic.
CREC is the Padma Bridge Rail Link Project (PBRLP) contractor.
In a small program at the CREC office in the city’s Baridhara, the consignment of safety gear was handed over to Colonel Iqbal Bahar Chowdhury representing the Bangladesh Army, and Lt Colonel Dr Abdul Wahab, Assistant Director of Kurmitola General Hospital, by Mr Wang Kun, a CREC representative.
The CREC has donated 10,080 N95 respirators, 40,000 disposable surgical masks, 1,000 medical protection gowns, 400 medical goggles, and 500 Covid-19 detection kits to the two hospitals.
According to Mr Wang Kun of CREC, this is the first batch of PPEs that CREC is donating to Bangladesh, and CREC will try its utmost to provide more assistance if the Covid-19 situation worsens in Bangladesh.
On this occasion, Mr Wang Kun said: “Drawing from China’s experience, fast and accurate testing and adequate PPE for medical professionals are essential for curbing Covid-19.”
Mr Wang Kun also said, CREC has also been making huge efforts to provide a safe working environment for its workers to ensure they do not contract Covid-19 during work.
Previously, the Chinese government donated 10,000 test kits, 10,000 personal protective equipment (PPE), 15,000 medical N95 masks, and 1,000 infrared thermometers to Bangladesh, on March 27.
Also, the Jack Ma Foundation and the Alibaba Foundation donated 30,000 test kits and 300,000 masks by two flights on March 28 and 29.
