Covid-19 pandemic: Bashundhara to turn 4 convention centres into 5,000 bed hospital

Leading business conglomerate Bashundhara Group is set to turn four of its convention centres and a trade centre into a makeshift 5,000-bed hospital in Dhaka for the treatment of Covid-19 (coronavirus) patients.

The trade centre and convention centres are located on the capital’s Kuril Biswa Road, Bashundhara group media adviser Mohammad Abu Tayeb told BSS.

Tayeb said Bashundhara Group Managing Director Sayem Sobhan Tanvir placed the proposal to set up a makeshift hospital, to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Sunday afternoon. At the same time, the MD also donated Tk10 crore to the prime minister’s Covid-19 relief fund on behalf of the group.

The Bashundhara Group has also taken an initiative to distribute food aid to the destitute in four wards of Dhaka in coordination with ward councillors.
