Dhaka University extends class suspension till April 9

Previously the classes were suspended from March 18 to till March 31

The Dhaka University authorities have suspended all classes and examinations till April 9 in an effort to curb the spread of coronavirus in the country, reads a press release published on Wednesday.

Offices will be closed till April 4, but water, electricity, gas, healthcare facilities, security, cleanliness will remain functioning during the break.

Mahmud Alam, the director of Dhaka University’s Public Relations office urged everyone to maintain social distancing in the press release.

Several public universities have suspended academic activities for varying degrees of time amidst fears related to the coronavirus outbreak.

Previously the Dhaka University had suspended classes from March 18 to March 31. 

The days when classes remain suspended will be adjusted with the forthcoming summer vacation.

Earlier, the Dhaka University Central Students' Union (Ducsu) recommended that the university authorities "shut the university down temporarily or announce an early summer vacation after rescheduling," and placed a memorandum to that effect to the VC on March 15.
