Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has fined three shopkeepers a total of Tk18 lakh and sent them to jail for overcharging commodities at a market in Dhaka.
The drive is being conducted at Shyambazar, one of the oldest and largest kitchen markets in Dhaka.
RAB Executive Magistrate Md Sarwar Alam started the raid at 8am on Sunday.
“We have fined 9 stockists so far. They were selling onions at Tk65, potatoes at Tk22, and garlic at Tk90,” he said.
The drive is still ongoing.
