An elderly Bangladeshi couple with high temperatures has been sent to a Dhaka hospital upon their arrival at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Group Captain AHM Touhid-ul Ahsan, director of the airport, confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune on Tuesday.
The couple landed at the airport early Tuesday, he said, adding that due to high temperatures in their bodies, they were sent to Kuwait Bangladesh Friendship Government Hospital for further checkup.
"At the airport, we are now keeping records of the individuals who have the symptoms of coronavirus infection, along with other passengers and crew who accompanied them on the same flights, as well as details of where the passengers stopped for transits. We are keeping all records in order to be able to track them down in case of any necessity," he said.
On Sunday, the Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) confirmed the first three coronavirus cases in the country.
On Monday, two more Bangladeshi men, back from Spain and Italy, and a child, back with his family from Singapore, were sent to the same hospital after they showed possible symptoms of coronavirus infection following their arrival at the airport.
The death toll reached 4,011 in the outbreak of the deadly coronavirus that has spread to over 100 countries, with more than 110,000 cases of infection.
