They also allegedly stole RMG products from the warehouse on Feb 15

Update : 02 Mar 2020, 08:08 PM

The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested two miscreants for their alleged involvement in stealing garment products from a warehouse and then setting the place on fire.

The arrests were made on Sunday.

The warehouse, located in Dhaka’s Pallabi area, was set on fire on February 15, after its owner left it locked with garment products worth Tk64 lakh inside.

The two men, Md Shahidul Islam, 43, and Md Ariful Islam, 20, are suspected to be a part of a larger group that carried out the crime. Others are supposedly still at large.

RAB 4 Senior ASP Akhteruzzaman said a group of 12-15 people broke into the warehouse and stole 96 cartons of garment products by loading them on a covered van.

The miscreants also attempted to make the theft look like a fire accident by burning the place down.

RAB was able to deduce this by analyzing CCTV footage from various cameras installed in nearby areas.

RAB also managed to seize garment products, worth Tk43 lakh, stolen by this group, during the drive in the area adjacent to Gazipur’s Bangladesh Rice Research Institute (BRRI) gate, he added.
