Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has banned all types of fireworks in the city on the occasion of the holy Shab-e-Barat, the night of forgiveness and fortune for Muslims.
DMP Commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia made the statement in a press release on Wednesday.
The ban has been enforced under Section 28 of DMP Police Ordinance-1976 and will be applicable from 6pm on Thursday 6am on Friday.
On April 27, the National Moon Sighting Committee announced May 11 as Shab-e-Barat after spotting the Shaban Moon.
