The experts have urged the government to include the subject of thunderstorm awareness in textbooks, with an aim to be studied at each and every educational institution.
They came up with the urge along with recommendations at a view exchange meeting in Dhaka's Mohakhali DOHS on Thursday.
The meeting was jointly organized by the Save the Society and Thunderstorm Awareness Forum (SSTAF) and Bangladesh Association for Social Advancement (BASA).
Lightning and fisheries expert Dr Munir Ahmed said:"Every year there is loss of lives and properties as people lack awareness of lightning strike."
SSTAF Secretary General Rashim Mollah said:"We cannot resist thunderstorms, but minimize our losses by creating lightning awareness.
"For this purpose, awareness programs should be launched in each and every educational institution."
BASA Director AKM Saiful Islam, Senior Deputy Manager Liton Kumar Dutta, and Assistant Manager Sajedul Islam, SSTAF Vice President Abdul Awal Chowdhury and Research Cell Head Abdul Alam were, among others, present at the program.
