A case has been filed against eight Muktijuddha Mancha leaders and activists in connection to the attacks on Dhaka University Central Students' Union (Ducsu) Vice President Nurul Haque Nur and 27 others.
Shahbagh police station Sub-Inspector (SI) Rais Uddin filed the case against them along with 30 to 35 unnamed accused around 12:30am on Tuesday, the police station's OC Abul Hasan told Dhaka Tribune.
The accused are: Muktijuddho Mancha central committee President Aminul Islam Bulbul and General Secretary Al Mamun, its DU unit President ASM Al Sonet and General Secretary Yasir Arafat Turjo, Imran Sarker, Yead Al Riyad, Mahbub Hasan Niloy and Touhidul Islam Mahim.
Among the eight accused, two of them - Al Mamun and Yasir Arafat Turjo - are already in police custody.
They were arrested around 3pm on Monday, Deputy Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police Masudur Rahman confirmed.
Dhaka University Central Students' Union (Ducsu) Vice President Nurul Haque Nur and 27 others were injured in an attack reportedly carried out by members of Chhatra League and Muktijuddha Mancha on Sunday.
They were later taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) for treatment.
Of the injured, APM Suhel and Tuhin Farabi were thrown off the rooftop of the Ducsu building, said Hasan Al Mamun, convener of Bangladesh General Students' Rights Protection Council.
Tuhin Farabi was kept at the intensive care unit of DMCH, however he was taken off life support on Monday as his condition improved, Resident Medical Officer Dr Md Alauddin of DMCH casualty block said.
