President Md Abdul Hamid has urged the judges to take necessary steps for quick disposal of cases in an efficient manner.
The president made the urge when newly appointed nine judges of the High Court Division of Bangladesh Supreme Court paid a courtesy call on him at Bangabhaban in Dhaka on Wednesday, reports BSS.
He said: "Judiciary is the last hope of the litigants. The number of judges is less than the country's huge population...So you have to take necessary steps for quick disposal of cases."
The head of the state hoped that with the help of lawyers, judges and other concerned, the trial activities will be accelerated, President's Press Secretary Joynal Abedin said.
Noting that the information technology is now very important tool, the president urged the judges to utilize the information technology (IT) in trial process.
"Use of information technology in courts will help speedy trial of cases," Abdul Hamid, also a veteran lawyer, observed.
The president expressed the hope that the newly appointed judges would remain active in discharging their duties honestly, faithfully and neutrally.
Welcoming the judges, President Hamid also wished their success.
The newly appointed nine judges are: Muhammad Mahbub Ul Islam, Shahed Nuruddin, Md Zakir Hossain, Md Akhtaruzzaman, Md Mahmud Hassan Talukder, Kazi Ebadoth Hossain, KM Zahid Sarwar, AKM Zahirul Huq, and Kazi Zinat Hoque.
