Trained imams’ role important in building crime-free society

The speakers distributed certificates at the event following its 45-day long regular training course

Speakers at a program have said trained imams can play a vital role in building a crime-free society, which is crucial for societal development.

Speakers made the remark at the closing ceremony of 988th batch of Imam Training Academy, held at the academy's conference hall in Khulna's Boyra on Thursday.

The speakers distributed certificates at the event following its 45-day long regular training course, reports BSS.

The chief guest, Islamic Foundation Director Shaheen Bin Zaman, said: "Imams should come forward to free the society from social and moral degradation.

"They have key roles to play in resisting drug-addiction, militancy, terrorism, and corruption in the society."

He urged the trained imams to play their responsible roles in advancing the Bangladesh’s present development process and maintain social stability simultaneously.

“We have to forge social resistance against sexual harassment, dowry, and multiple marriages by increasing women's education, social harmony and family values,” Shaheen added.

He also urged the Muslim preachers to disseminate knowledge acquired from the training course among the community people.

Khulna Deputy Commissioner (DC) Md Helal Hossain addressed the session. Khulna Civil Surgeon ASM Abdur Razzaque, and District Education Officer Khondokar Ruhul Amin also spoke on the occasion.

The speakers distributed certificates among 104 imams, who participated in the training course.
