Dhaka University (DU) authorities have announced that, students who are appearing in the masters examination will have to leave their dormitories within 15 days of completion of their exams.
DU Vice-Chancellor Md Akhtaruzzaman condemned Abrar Farhad’s killing earlier this week inside Sher-e-Bangla hall by BCL activists.
He said this during a provost committee meeting at his residence on Wednesday, said a press release.
At present, post-graduate students can stay at their respective residential halls till the announcement of their master’s result, usually three to four months after completion of the exam.
The provost committee decided that hall seats will be allocated on merit basis to students getting admission in the first year, and no one will be allowed to stay in the halls without permission from the authority.
A committee with experts from DU, and Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (Buet) has been formed to assess the feasibility of putting up bunk beds in rooms with multiple students, read the press release.
Students and associated personnel were requested to inform the provosts of the halls, and the university proctor about the presence of any goons, drug users, dealers, and addicts on campus or in the residential halls, it added.
The committee also said, the opening hours of the central library, and departmental seminar libraries will be extended, if needed, beyond 9:00pm for studying.
