2 former Chhatra League leaders held with gun at DU

The proctorial team ran a drive and arrested the duo with the weapon

Police have held two former leaders of the Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) over threatening a student with a gun.

A Dhaka University (DU) proctorial team raided Haji Mohammad Mohsin Hall, and caught the duo with a local gun, before handing them over to the Shahbagh police station on Tuesday evening.

The arrestees are Hasibur Rahman Tushar, student of the Institute of Education Research, and Abu Bakar Alif, student of Islamic History and Culture department.Abu Bakr Alif and Hasibur Rahman Tushar |Collected

Confirming the matter, DU proctor Prof AKM Golam Rabbani said: "Earlier in the evening, Tushar and Alif threatened Mohsin Hall Chhatra League unit student affairs secretary Riaz Farazi over group politics."

Based on the information, the proctorial team ran a drive and arrested them with the weapon.

The proctorial team also recovered three locally made weapons, three kinds of narcotics, two laptops and CCTV cameras, one bottle of phensedyl, one hammer, one pipe made of steel, and some yaba pills from their possession.
