The Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) has evicted more than 150 illegal establishments from the capital’s Gabtoli area.
The establishments were removed in a drive on Tuesday.
The eviction drive, which is a continuation of the corporation’s ongoing move against illegal establishments across the north city, started from 12pm and lasted four hours.
DNCC Executive Magistrates Md Aminul Islam and Md Sajid Anwar evicted 50 depots of coal, bricks, sand, and around 100 makeshift shops from the Gabtoli cattle market area and on the bank of Turag River.
Besides, they freed more than 11 acres of land from grabbers in the area.
The DNCC sources said, since the drive started on September 22, they have evicted nearly 4,000 illegal establishments and jailed three people so far.
