At least five people were killed everyday across Bangladesh in the month September, a study said.
Bangladesh Human Rights Commission (BHRC) and International Human Rights Commission (IHRC) issued a press release in this regard on Monday.
According to the statement, a total of 169 people were killed across Bangladesh this month.
The report was prepared based on data gathered from field offices of BHRC in different districts, upazilas, municipalities, and from national dailies.

In violence committed during September, 53 were raped, 14 experienced sexual harassment, four faced dowry related violence, while two journalists were harassed, and one became a victim to an acid attack.
In addition, another 228 people were killed in various transport accidents, while 15 committed suicide.
Expressing deep concern over the increasing trend in killing, the BHRC urged law enforcement agencies and government officials concerned to play their roles responsibly.
“If the law enforcement acts strictly and bring perpetrators to justice, the government will be able to bring down the number of killing to zero,” the statement said.
