Rains disrupt Dhaka life, forecast likely for 3 more days

River ports told to hoist signal No 2

Intermittent rains, triggered by depression over West Bengal, may continue for three more days across the country, including Dhaka.

Heavy rains already inundated roads, lanes, by-lanes in some parts of Dhaka on Sunday afternoon, causing sufferings to commuters.

Met office recorded around 1millimeter rain in Dhaka from 12pm to 4pm.

Heavy rain pours in dhaka on Sunday, September 29, 2019 | Rajib Dhar/Dhaka TribuneAccording to a Met Office bulletin, rain or thunder showers temporary south-south-easterly, wind is likely to blow at 60kph-80kph over the regions of Comilla, Dhaka, Faridpur, Rajshahi, Rangpur, Pabna, Bogra, Tangail, Mymensingh, Jessore, Kushtia, Khulna, Barisal, Patuakhali, Noakhali and Sylhet districts wherein river ports shall hoist warning signal No 2.

Rain or thunder showers, temporary south or south-easterly, gusty or squally winds at 45kph to 60kph is likely to occur elsewhere over the country wherein river ports shall hoist cautionary signal no. one, the bulletin said.

The inland river ports warning will remain valid till 1am of September 30, the bulletin added.
