Police have recovered the body of a former joint secretary from a private hospital in Dhaka, after he reportedly committed suicide.
The body was recovered from Monowara Hospital at Moghbazar around 5pm on Thursday, confirmed Ramna police station OC Kazi Mainul.
He identified the deceased as Moshiur Rahman, 73, a freedom fighter.
Quoting his family, OC Mainul said Moshiur was a patient with psychological issues. He hanged himself at the family’s home at Ramna’s Siddheshwari Lane.
Police later sent the body to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for an autopsy. “We will know more after the autopsy,” the OC said.
He added that Moshiur was from Sirajganj’s Belkuchi upazila. He retired from public service as a joint secretary in 2004.
