Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) is scheduled to conduct a drive against illegal encroachment on the footpaths from September 20.
DNCC Mayor Md Atiqul Islam announced this while unveiling the nameplate of Shaheed Zayan Chowdhury Playground at Banani’s Chairmanbari Saturday morning.
Atiqul said: “The drive against illegal encroachment on the footpaths will start from September 20. The footpaths will be freed for pedestrians to walk on.
“I spoke to the prime minister about this matter. She welcomed this initiative.”
Awami League Presidium member Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim and ward commissioners of DNCC were present during the announcement.
