Notre Dame Annual Science Festival Olympiad to be held on Sep 6

Around 300 educational institutions are invited to the science festival every year

Notre Dame College is set to host the Olympiad part of the biggest science festival of Bangladesh, "Notre Dame Annual Science Festival 2019 and 29th GKC", on September 6.

The science festival, organized by Notre Dame Science Club (NDSC), took place over a period of three days, starting from August 29. 

NDSC is a pioneer of science clubs in the subcontinent. Founded by award-winner, eminent biologist, and former principal of Notre Dame "The Magsaysay"Fr Richard William Timm, CSC, in 1955, Notre Dame Science Club has been spreading the light of science andawareness among the youth with the motto “Science in Human Welfare” for 64 years.

Around 300 educational institutions are invited to the science festival every year, and around 18,000 students from all corners of the country participate in the festival. Around 40,000 visitors visit the festival.

This year, the science festival was divided into eight segments - Project Expo, SciencyArtishia, Techcon, Scholar Hunt, Abstract, Seconds to Beat, Aarwor, and 29th General Knowledge Competition (GKC).   

Each segment is unique in the projects and events they feature. They will feature different science projects, quizzes, public speaking, and other activities. 

The Olympiad, scheduled to be held on September 6, will begin at 7:30am. The main science festival started at 2:30pm on August 29, with registration and setup for projects, wall magazines, web designing and submission of digital posters. 

On August 30, projects, scrapbooks and web pages were displayed. The Rubik's Cube competition was held on August 30. 

The final day of the science festival saw project displays, IT based extempore speeches, and robot competitions.
