A man has been stabbed to death at his daughter’s wedding in Moghbazar, Dhaka.
The deceased was identified as Tula Mia, 47.
Hatirjheel police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdur Rashid said a group of 12 to 15 youths entered the Priyanka Shooting House on Dilu Road, where the wedding was being held, around 1:30pm on Thursday.
The youths were causing trouble during the program, and at one stage one of them stabbed the bride’s parents- Tula Mia and Firoza Begum. The attacker was identified as Sajib Ahmed Rocky.
Both victims were first taken to Insaf Barakah Kidney and General Hospital, where the on-duty doctor declared Tula Mia dead, the OC said.
Firoza Begum was referred to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital for better treatment.
Police have arrested Sajib, and the incident may have been caused by a love affair, the OC added.
