Eid prayers have been held at the National Eidgah – on the premises of the Bangladesh Supreme Court –and National Mosque Baitul Mukarram, in Dhaka.

The first jamaat of the day was held at Baitul Mukarram at 7am on Wednesday, with its Pesh, Imam Mufti Md Muhibullahil Baki Nadvi, conducting it.

Meanwhile, the jaamat at National Eidgah was held around 8:30am, with Pesh Imam Hafez Muhammad Mizanur Rahman as its imam.

Thousands of devotees joined the two jamaat.

Country’s noted personalities, including chief justice, cabinet members, judges of the Supreme Court, members of parliament, senior secretaries concerned to the Bangabhaban, high civil and military officials offered their prayers as well.

Everyone prayed for peace, prosperity and well-being of the people of Bangladesh. Devotees greeted and embraced each other after the prayers were over.

However, they had to suffer to attend the prayers due to the heavy rains that showered the city since morning. A few were forced to seek shelter under trees to keep themselves from getting soaked.

The rain stopped as soon as the Eid prayers were over.

Women also attended the jamaat, held on the 260,000 sqft area of the Eidgah. The gate adjacent to the water pump on the eastern side was kept open for them.

Just like the past years, security was beefed up to maintain law and order near the Eidgah.
