Professor Dr Kazi Shahidullah, former vice chancellor of National University, has been appointed the new chairman of the University Grants Commission (UGC).
Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) issued a notification in this regard on Wednesday.
Kazi Shahidullah, a professor of the Department of History of the University of Dhaka has been appointed for a four-year term.
UGC's previous Chairman Professor Abdul Mannan’s term came to an end on May 7.
Professor Yusuf Ali Molla, the senior-most official of Bangladesh University Grants Commission, served as its acting chairman during the interim period.
