Biman begins sale of Hajj tickets

The national flag carrier will start carrying pilgrims to perform Hajj from July 4

The Biman Bangladesh Airlines began selling tickets for Hajj flights to Saudi Arabia at a cost of Tk128,000 per pilgrim from Monday. 

The national flag carrier will start carrying pilgrims to perform Hajj from July 4.

Biman plans to operate 157 dedicated Hajj flights, in addition to 32 scheduled flights, till August 5. Return Hajj flights will start from August 17 and continue till September 14.

As many as 127,198 pilgrims are expected to perform the Hajj this year, with Biman carrying 63,599 of them. 

Biman will operate 11 flights from Dhaka to Medina, 10 flights from Chittagong to Jeddah, three on the Sylhet-Jeddah route, and seven on the Chittagong-Medina route. The other 126 flights will operate on the Dhaka-Jeddah route.

Bangladeshi pilgrims performing the Hajj will be able to complete immigration procedures at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka before heading to Saudi Arabia, which will allow them to enter the kingdom through a jet-bridge after landing at the airport without any formalities.

General Manager (public relations) of Biman Bangladesh Airlines Shakil Meraz said the national flag carrier has taken all-out preparations to complete the Hajj flights.

There will be no complexities if the Hajj agencies and passengers collect their tickets on time, he added.

Passengers willing to avail business class seats will have to pay an additional US$200 for a one way trip, while it will be $300 for a round trip. For cancelling a ticket, there will be a $350 penalty, while $200-$300 will be charged for changing the date of a journey.
