A female newborn was found in the Dhaka Shishu Hospital common bathroom near Sher-e-Bangla Nagar.
Sher-e-Bangla Nagar police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Janey Alom Munshi confirmed the incident.
He informed Prothom Alo that a family member of one of patients spotted a newborn child lying on the floor of the bathroom, and informed ward officials. The child was rescued and admitted to the hospital.
The newborn is around two days old.
The OC said the ward master filed a case regarding this matter on May 14 in the afternoon.
“Our people are looking into the matter,” OC said.
Quoting doctors, the OC also said the child is healthy.
The police are trying to find out who abandoned the child on the bathroom floor.
