No vehicular movement will be allowed through the Dhaka University (DU) area on Pohela Boishakh.
However, vehicles will be able to move through the DU area the day prior without restriction.
Motorbikes will not be able to transit the campus on Pohela Boishakh, however, no restrictions will be imposed on traffic movement on the eve of the New Year, the university authorities said.
Confirming the matter, Dhaka University Proctor Prof AKM Golam Rabbani said: "All types of vehicles will be allowed to move through the Dhaka University area the day before Pohela Boishakh.
"Although, we will discourage people not to be at the university area if not really necessary as those who have work to be done here will be checked and then allowed to enter university premises."
"However, no vehicles—not even motorcycles—will be permitted to enter the DU area on Pohela Boishakh," he added.
