A fire—that broke out on a stationary launch at Sadrghat launch terminal—has been doused.
Confirming the matter to Dhaka Tribune, Fire Service Headquarter Duty Officer Ataur Rahman said the fire originated around 12:18pm, on Tuesday, inside the MV Banda launch.
On information, three fire fire-fighting units responded to the scene and doused the blaze around 12:48pm, he said.
When asked about the cause of the fire, he said: “Workers were conducting metal welding work inside the vessel as part of repair activities. The fire might have originated there.”
Estimated damage caused by the fire is around Tk10 lakh.
