Motorcyclist killed in Mirpur road accident

Police have arrested the bus driver and impounded the bus

A motorcyclist has been killed after a bus of Tetulia Paribahan rammed into his motorbike in Mirpur, Dhaka.

The accident occurred in Shewrapara, Mirpur around 9pm on Monday.

The deceased Nurul Islam Shanto was travelling when the bus rammed into his motorbike  and ran over his chest; leaving him seriously injured.   

When he was rushed to Mirpur's Al-Helal Hospital, the doctors returned him to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital.

Later, the on-duty doctor declared him dead.

Officer-in-Charge- (OC) of Mirpur Model Police Station Dadan Fakir said: "After the incident, when we took Nurul Islam Shanto to the National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedic Rehabilitation—in critical condition—the on-duty doctor declared him dead. The body is now in the emergency department of the hospital.

We have impounded the bus and arrested bus driver Saiful Islam; he is now at the police station. The bus was travelling from Agargaon to Mirpur 10, he added.

However, the police did not elaborate details of the deceased person.

Meanwhile, Abrar Ahmed Chowdhury—a first-year honours student of international relations department at Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP)—was killed after a bus ran him over while he was crossing Pragati Sarani Road, using the zebra crossing, on March 19.
