Mayor of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Sayeed Khokon said circular bus service would be introduced on Dhanmondi-Uttara-Motijheel route of the city within April aiming to bring discipline in public transportation and ease the sufferings of city commuters.
Sayeed Khokon made the announcement while talking to reporters after a meeting on bus route rationalization committee at Nagar Bhaban in Dhaka on Wednesday.
Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Atiqul Islam was also present on the occasion.
“With support from the all concerned, we hope we will be able to introduce the circular bus service within mid April after completing necessary procedures,” Khokon said.
Chaired by the DSCC mayor, the meeting was attended by DNCC Mayor Atiqul Islam and Rajuk Chairman Abdur Rahman.
Earlier, the government formed a 10-member committee involving relevant stakeholders to bring discipline in public transportation.
