Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (Ducsu) Vice-President-elect Nurul Haque Nur has called off all forms of protests over the polls, held on Monday.

Nur called off the protests after Bangladesh Chhatra League President Rezwanul Haque Chowdhury Shovon, who lost to Nur in the election, met him on DU campus on Tuesday and congratulated him.

Shovon also withdrew protest of the Chhatra League activists against Nur’s election, before pledging to work with the quota reform movement leader and everyone else.

Giving his consent, Nur said: “I want to work shoulder to shoulder with everyone.”

“I have also called the university authorities to look into the Chhatra League attack,” Nur said, before withdrawing the class and examination boycott program that had kicked off earlier in the morning.

Bangladesh General Students Rights Protection Council candidate Nur and Chhatra League’s Golam Rabbani were elected Ducsu VP and general secretary, respectively, through Monday’s election.
