Thirty-two-year-old rickshawpuller Ibrahim from Shariatpur lives in Kamrangirchar. After working hard for the entire day, he usually returns home late at night.
However, Ibrahim has been missing since he left for work on Wednesday.
His wife Roksana and ten-year-old daughter Bristi have been frantically searching for him, with Roksana unable to reach her husband by phone since the Chawkbazar fire.
“He always returned home, no matter how late it was. At the latest, it would be 1:30am by the time he came back. I last spoke to him around 4pm on Wednesday. He used to drive his rickshaw in the Chawkbazar, Azimpur, Lalbag, New Market, and Dhaka University areas,” Roksana told the Dhaka Tribune.
Roksana and Bristi went to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on Saturday and Sunday, to submit blood samples to the CID so they could check whether Ibrahim’s body was among those yet to be identified.
“We have been married for 12 years. In all these years, he has always returned home for the night. I searched for him everywhere and could not find him, so I had to come here. I even went to the garage to check if he had gone there to keep the rickshaw, but it seems that no one saw him or the vehicle after Wednesday,” Roksana said.
“I am still waiting for him to come home. Every night, around 1:30am, I anxiously wait for a knock on the door,” she added.
