Consumers across large swathes of Dhaka will have to go without gas for 12 hours starting 6pm on Tuesday.
According to a press statement from Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company Ltd, the suspension will be the result of the need to redirect gas pipelines, to facilitate work on the Dhaka Metro Rail Project.
Titas is responsible for distribution of gas in Dhaka city.
The areas where gas supply will remain suspended include Mirpur, Shyamoli, Monipuripara, Agargaon, Dhanmondi, Mohammadpur, Ganabhaban, Jatiya Sangsad, Kalabagan, Hazaribagh, Dhaka University, Buet, Shahbagh, Green Road, all areas in Old Dhaka, Bangabhaban, Gopibagh, Swamibagh, Rampura, Banasree, Nandipara, Moghbazar, Siddheshwari, Segunbagicha, Minto Road, Tejgaon, Khilgaon, Basabo, Motijheel and Kamalapur.
Earlier, consumers in some other areas of the city, including Mirpur, Mohammadpur, Kalabagan, Shyamoli, Agargaon, and some adjacent areas like Dhamrai, Ashulia, Aminbazar, Savar and Manikganj, had to experience disruption in gas supply for 28 hours since Friday night, although that was ostensibly due to a technical glitch.
