A police personnel’s wife has been found dead in a residence in Dhaka's Vatara area.
Police recovered the body from the house located in Solemaid area under Vatara thana around 3am on Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Mina Akhter, 25, wife of one Sohel Rana who is currently serving as the assistant sub-inspector (ASI) in Vatara police station.
Confirming the matter, Vatara police station Sub-Inspector (SI) Al Imam said, upon receiving information, policemen recovered the body found on the bed.
The body had injury marks at the neck, he added.
“The deceased’s husband Sohel said Mina committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling fan of the room following a family altercation,” SI Imam said.
The SI also said following legal procedures, the body was sent to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) for autopsy Saturday morning.
The actual cause of death will be known from the autopsy result, he concluded.
