6 injured in gas pipeline blast in Adabor

The accident occurred on Thursday night

Six people, including a child, have sustained injuries in a gas pipeline explosion in Mohammadia Housing Society, in Adabor area of Mohammadpur, in Dhaka. 

The accident occurred around 9pm on Thursday. The injured are: Hosne Ara, 53; Naima Huq, 46; Monaem, 28; Laili, 35; Nayeem, 7; and gas-fitter Billal Hossain, 35.

Kawsar Ahmed, officer-in-charge (OC) of Adabor police station, said: "Around 9pm on Thursday, gas- fitter Billal went to work on the gas pipeline on the fourth floor of a five-story building in Mohammadia Housing Society. As he was working, the pipeline exploded and the whole floor caught fire, injuring six people."

Police suspect the explosion might have occurred due to a gas leak, the OC said.

The injured were admitted to Bangladesh Medical College Hospital and later transferred to the burn unit of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital.
