BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has filed a GD with Paltan police station, seeking action against unidentified people who used a fake Facebook ID with his name.
Confirming the matter, Paltan police OC Mahmudul Haque said Fakhrul filed the GD on Thursday afternoon.
There are several Facebook IDs under the name of the BNP secretary general, and the accounts also use his photos. However, Fakhrul told police that he does not have a Facebook ID.
The BNP leader called for legal action against the creators and users of these fake Facebook accounts, and asked police to remove them, the OC added.
Police are investigating the matter, he further said.
