11 held over receiving, distributing fake medical admission question paper

RAB 10 confirmed the matter during a press briefing at RAB’s media centrein Karwan Bazar

The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has detained five youngsters for allegedly circulating fake question papers for the upcoming medical and dental admission exam test via social mediaand charging buyers for them, and a further six for buying them. 

The five were detained from the Farmgate, Mirpur, Kalyanpur, and Panthapath areas of Dhaka on Friday night. RAB alsofound12 cheques amounting to Tk1,24,00,000, fake question papers, and mobile devices. 

Those detained forcirculating fake question papers areMohidul Kabir Limon, 26, Sarwar Hossain alias Biplob, 29, Saddam Hossain, 25, Md Masud, 30, and Ujjal Robi Dash, 23. Those who acquired the papers are – Rifat Sarkar, 19, Faysal Ahmed, 18, Mostakin Fuad, 19, Abu Sayed, 18, Isha Alam, 21, and Tarek Hasan,19. 

RAB 10 Commanding Officer (CO) Md Kayumuzzaman confirmed the matter during a press briefing at RAB’s media centrein Karwan Bazarand said they received a tip-off they conducted a raid, during which they detainedthe suspects.

He said the detained group advertises and sells such question papers on social media messaging services WhatsApp and Imo on a regular basis.

We have been informed that among them, five are involved with various coaching centres, but we do not want to disclose the names of these centresin order to safeguard the investigation.

We will take legal action against them and any coaching centre they are affiliated with, if a connection is established, said Kayumuzzaman.
