Three journalists won the Institute of Environment and Development (IED) Award 2018 on Sunday.
The winners are Shohel Mamun of Dhaka Tribune, Farjana Akter of The Independent and Rajib Nur of Daily Samakal.
A total of 12 Journalists were honoured in three categories, where four journalists from each category were selected based on their outstanding contribution.
The event was held at Bishwo Shahitto Kendro in Dhaka on Sunday.
This is the first time the IED has awarded journalists with the aim of inspiring more objective reporting on women’s issues, the environment, and the rights of marginalized people.
"Honoring these journalists is an effective opportunity to highlight the significant contribution of journalism and individual journalists in Bangladesh’s development process," said Dr Mustak Hossain, convener of Jono Udyog Jatiya Committee.
IED Executive Director Noman Ahmed Khan, President of Dhaka Reporters Unity Saiful Islam, and Professor Shantunu Majumder were present in the award ceremony among many other guests.
