DNCC drive removes 50 illegal structures

A number of establishments have also been fined Tk25,000 each for obstructing public movement by keeping construction materials on the roads

Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) in an eviction drive on Tuesday reclaimed 10,000 square feet of space removing around 50 illegal structures in the capital’s Mirpur 2 and Rupnagar areas.

DNCC Executive Magistrate Sajid Anwar led the eviction drive that continued for two and a half hours from 12 noon.

Besides, the magistrate fined GLG Estate Ltd, AR Land Mark, Doulat Properties Ltd, and owner of Plot No 14 at Road No 2 under Block B in Mirpur 2 Tk25,000 each for obstructing public movement keeping construction materials on the roads.

He also gave a 48-hour deadline to remove those materials from the streets.

Medicas Hospital of Rupnagar was also fined Tk25,000 for constructing a shed illegally and it was also given 48 hours to remove it.
